Purchased in Allepo in 1980, this magnificent woman's dress is one-of-a-kind with heavy machine embroidery in light coral shades. The soft colors present an unusual variation on the bright crimsom and red embroidery colors usually seen in this stye dress. The fabric is a heavy satin cotton that falls beautifully from the shoulders. Traditional embroidery designs usually seen in hand work (palm, rose) are replicated here by machine and include geometric patterns across the shoulders, upper back and chest, stitching outlining pockets, and overlays of seams and hem.
