Made to order from a Damascus seamstress of Houraani origin, this polyester Hawran-style dress trimmed with black braid is of a modern style frequently seen in this bustling city. To fall properly in the deep neck slit, a special type of rippled polyester fabric was tied under the chin and fastened atop the head. This modesty piece was held firmly in place by a square floral bandana of Eastern European design.
