Stunning in the clarity of its embroidery, the chevron designs were stitched entirely in petit point over a cotton backing. "Waste canvas' was used to maintain perfectly straight lines. When the embroidery was finished, the artist would wet the canvas which dissolved its starch, making it easy to pull away the threads.

Seams are overlayed with tmenjel herringbone stitch in a paler shade of red. Neck opening as well as the hem are faced in cord.
