Suhne Coat

Dense red silk petit point embroidery covers most of this Suhne coat with amazing silk geometric and floral patterns.

The ornaments most frequently used in Suhne are stylized palm fronds, cypresses, trees of life, rosettes, vines, and geometrical patterns.

The satin finish on the fabric preferred in Suhne makes counted thread cross stitch very difficult to produce. For that reason, embroidery canvas was normally used by the seamstress. After the stitching was complete, the canvas was moistened to dissolve the starch that gave it body, and one by one the threads were pulled out.
